McEnery Lounge

The McEnery Lounge on the first floor of the Fitzgerald Library is a welcoming, collaborative student environment that provides opportunities for a variety of individual and group study activities. 

Featuring comfortable seating in a variety of configurations, movable whiteboards, and lots of table and counter space, the area works well for group projects.  Individuals can find cozy corners  to settle in with a book or a laptop as well. The furniture is equipped with convenient charging stations and electrical connections and the area is served by a high speed wireless network.

Main Level/The Reference Room

The Reference Room and adjoining areas are on the main level of the library.  This floor features a variety of spaces for study, research, and collaborative group work.  Comfy chairs near the newspapers, popular magazines, and book displays invite visitors to sit down and do some reading.   Long  tables located near power outlets enable groups of students to study and work together.  Twelve PC stations are situated throughout the area with an additional 12 in the near by Gremelsbach Lab. A wireless network is available for lap top users. Printing is free.

Students can get help from a librarian at the “Ask a Librarian” station and peruse the Reference Collection or the bound periodicals. DVDs are available for check out in the rear of the area. 

Reference Room

Lower Level/Classroom #33

The lower level of the library is designated as the quiet area.  It is intended for individual study with no conversation. The Children’s and Young Adult book collections are at the back of the area and there students will find more comfy chairs.  

The Library Classroom  (#33) is also located in this area.  It features 30 PC stations, a teacher’s station,  and an overhead projector.  If it is not use for instruction, students may use the computers and practice for upcoming presentations.  Doors to the classroom need to be closed when in use so as not to disturb the quiet study area. 


Upper Level/Upper McEnery

The upper level of the library is intended for individual study and quiet conversations.  It features a variety of seating arrangements from comfy arm chairs to study carrels.  Students will find PC stations and laptop users will have access to a wireless network.

Need to get away from it all to really concentrate? The library offers study carrels on all floors of the library. 



Group Study Rooms

The library provides a variety of group study rooms.  The upper level of McEnery features four rooms that may be reserved,  Rooms 238-240 offer a collaborative work space with mini PC, wireless keyboard and mouse, 50″ flat panel display, HDMI input, and Apple TV.  Room 237 has a big screen TV with DVD/VCR player. 

On the main floor of the library Rooms 117 and 119 also offer a collaborative work space with mini PC, wireless keyboard and mouse, wall mounted flat screen, HDMI input, and Apple TV. these rooms are available on a first come first served basis.

There are two group study rooms in the rear of the  lower level and the upper level of the library with long tables and white boards.  Again availability is on a first come first serve basis.
