Accessing Fitzgerald Library's books and other media
Use the MNPals catalog to view the collection.
We are happy to mail any books or other media from the Fitzgerald Library collection to your home. Contact our Interlibrary Loan Librarian, Lauren Leighton (firstname.lastname@example.org | 507-457-1564), with your list of requests.
Books will be due back on the last day of the semester, but may be renewed two times. You may renew on line, telephone our Circulation Desk (507-457-1561), or e-mail us at email@example.com. You are responsible for shipping books back to us.
Books from other libraries
We are unable to mail ILL books to distance students, because the time needed for mailing back and forth usually goes beyond the due date of borrowed items.
We can identify any libraries in your region which own the specific books that you need. With that information, you can ask any local library where you have a borrower’s card to do the interlibrary loan borrowing for you.
Order a Book
Accessing Fitzgerald Library's databases to find articles
To access off campus just log in with your SMU user name and password.
Articles that are not available in full text may be requested through our free Interlibrary Loan service. Follow the links provided in the databases to the order form. Articles will be sent to your e-mail.
When a copy of an article is sent to your e-mail account, you may be provided with a password to retrieve the article. Because of copyright regulations, the password for the article will remain active for only seven days, so you need to print out or save the article to your computer before that time. At other times the article will come directly to you with no need to consider passwords or time limits.
To request an article from a citation or bibliography use the blank interlibrary loan form.
