To fulfill its mission as the chief source of information for Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, the Fitzgerald Library actively seeks donations that support the teaching, research, and other collection needs of the university.
Fitzgerald Library reserves the right to accept, decline, or discard any unsolicited materials which are offered or presented for inclusion in its collections. Because of budget and space constraints, specially named sections cannot be created for a gift collection. Donations appropriate for Fitzgerald Library are accepted by the Library Director, Laura Oanes (firstname.lastname@example.org), or by the director’s designee.
In accordance with university policy, the Fitzgerald Library does not provide an appraisal for gifts accepted to its collection. However, the library will acknowledge the donation with a letter describing the number of items donated. Gifts to the Fitzgerald Library may be deductible for income tax purposes; benefactors should consult their tax advisors for information on deductibility of gifts. Once the gift material enters our processing workflow, we can no longer accommodate an appraiser. If a donor is considering a tax deduction, and this will require an outside appraisal, he/she should have the appraisal done prior to making their donation.
